Outside Product Support Representative & Full Line Outside Sales Representative

Coastal Equipment, the John Deere Construction Equipment Dealer in Virginia Beach, VA is currently hiring an Outside Product Support Representative and a Full Line Outside Sales Representative. These are both full time positions.


Outside Product Support Representative

Job Summary:

Secure and retain parts and service business for designated customer base.



  • Develop business relationships with assigned customers and potential new customers
  • Assist assigned customers in ordering parts and scheduling service
  • Generate parts and service estimates for customers
  • Serve as liaison between Coastal Equipment Corp. and customers for parts and service sales
  • Maintain close working relationship with Parts and Service managers
  • Communicate regularly with sales force
  • Input detailed daily activities related to customer visits in CRM system
  • Provide JDLink and new machine product training to customers
  • Complete machine inspections, including undercarriage inspections and appraisals.
  • Contact customers following completion of transactions to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Complete machine inspections
  • Other responsibilities as requested by manager



  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college, technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Skilled in developing interpersonal relationships
  • General knowledge of maintenance, repair, parts department functions, sales, and customer needs
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience in heavy equipment industry required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background checks


Full Line Outside Sales Representative


  • Selling, renting and leasing new and used John Deere & Hitachi Construction Equipment
  • Ability to put together quotes and arrange financing options for customers in a timely manner
  • Must be able to engage well with existing customers and establish new ones in order to build long term customer relationships
  • Assist customers with machine questions and issues in a professional way
  • Conduct field demonstrations of various types of equipment 
  • Maintain continuing education requirements on John Deere & Hitachi Construction Equipment and other products sold by Coastal Equipment to better educate yourself and serve our customers
  • Visit current and prospective customers on a regular basis, whether at their office or job sites 
  • Able to be a solutions oriented salesperson helping customers decide the right machine for their needs



  • Industry experience preferred
  • College degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years sales experience 
  • Knowledge/use of CRM tool is a positive 
  • Efficient in using standard/basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office applications
  • Hardworking individual who conducts themselves in a professional manner
  • Some mechanical aptitude is a positive
  • Good attitude and positive work ethic
  • Portrays leadership, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others
